Game Design - Craftland/Sandbox
Craftland is Free Fire's custom mode ecosystem, delivering curated PUGC (Professionally-Curated User-Generated Content) maps within a sandbox environment.
As a Game Design, you will own the direction, design, and production of Craftland maps for Indonesia. This is a hybrid PM + game design role: you will conceive map concepts, lead game design decisions, manage a small in-house developer team (1 backend + 1 asset/visual), and ensure every shipped map is engineered to drive Craftland's core metrics: day-2 Retention (R2), playtime, and participation rate.
This role requires strong project management, genuine game design curiosity, deep understanding of Free Fire mechanics, and the ability to grow developer talent in a fast-paced sandbox environment.
- Own concept and game design direction to create top Craftland PUGC maps
- Translate Indonesian player insights and global sandbox/UGC gaming trends into executable, viral-ready map concepts that meaningfully integrate Free Fire elements (characters, weapons, items, mechanics).
- Lead end-to-end map production with 2 in-house developers (1 backend, 1 asset/visual creation): briefing, milestone tracking, QA, and launch readiness.
- Source and recruit developer talent through game competition initiatives (e.g., Craftland map creation competition); convert top performers into full-time team members.
- Define and monitor map performance metrics (R2, playtime, participation), iterate on live maps based on data, and produce structured performance reports.
- Own other Craftland operational: In-game maps promotion & maintain ongoing engagement with the existing creator community.
- Align with regional Craftland team on direction, content roadmap, and milestones; partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, and community teams as needed.
- Fresh graduate with strong project leadership experience in university organizations OR young professional with 1–2 years of relevant experience (project management, game design, product ops, creative production).
- Strong project management capability: able to scope, plan, track, and ship complex production work end-to-end with minimal supervision.
- Genuine curiosity for game design: understands what makes games fun, sticky, and retention-driving; able to articulate gameplay loops and design rationale.
- Strong understanding of and passion for sandbox/UGC games and viral mobile gaming trends in SEA/Indonesia.
- People development mindset: comfortable managing developers, giving constructive feedback, and growing junior creative/technical talent.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking; able to connect player behavior data (R2, playtime) to design decisions and iteration plans.
- Fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and proficient in English (written and verbal).
